Marissa “Mango” is back for another season at The Food Literacy Project! She has been involved with YCAP for two years. Marissa desires to use her summer to give back to her community and fellow crew members by sharing her skills and experiences. Additionally, Marissa loves and is very passionate about farming. In her free time, she is educating herself about stock, trading, and entrepreneurial opportunities. When asked, “Why should you grow and cook your own food?”, Marissa responded, “Being outside improves your mental health, you develop better eating habits, you know what is put on your food. We don’t use pesticides and that provides organic produce. Lastly, the food we grow is fresh and more accessible to our neighboring community.”
