Alastair “Artichoke” Flowers graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in horticulture and soil science. Through their years as an undergrad Alastair had the opportunity to work with the Kentucky Mesonet as a soil analyst as well as doing research at the University of Kentucky investigating the effectiveness of cover cropping. These experiences helped shape his interest and passion in broadening food access and aiming to educate people more in the role they can play in helping to provide food for their communities. After graduation he had the great experience of working for the Waterfront Botanical Gardens, which strengthened their interest in community work and learned more about how to bridge the gap between people and nature. In their off-time Alastair loves making chainmail, hanging out with his cat, and baking.
