Ropa Vieja (Cuban Meat Stew)

I chose this recipe because is my boyfriend’s favorite food, so I make for him many times. Before I meet my boyfriend, I cook that recipe for first time 1 year ago. My Dad teach me how make this recipe and I make for a party in the last day of school. One curious thing about this recipe is that I make many time but I never tasted that because I don’t eat peppers and onion, but I like cook it to make happy my family.


  • 2lbs. beef meat
  • 1 tbs. salt
  • 3 tbs. olive oil
  • 2 liters water
  • 1 onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 red pepper
  • 1/2 green pepper
  • 5 tbs. tomato paste
  • 150ml white wine
  • 1 tb. Complete Seasoning
  • 1 pinch cumin


1. The meat is boiled in the water with the salt for 45 minutes.

2. The cooked meat is shredded. 

3. The onion, garlic, green and red pepper, seasoning, and a pinch of cumin are fried in oil in a pan then when the spices are fried, the tomato is added.

4. Finally the shredded meat and the white wine are added to the sauce. It is then cooked for about 10 minutes. 

5. Serve with rice.
